Just after 7 a.m. we were treated to this sunrise. Our home faces due east. Last night we went to bed listening to the call of a barred owl. This morning Phosphorous, the light bringer, gifted us this.

"Rosy-fingered dawn" (Ancient Greek: ῥοδοδάκτυλος Ἠώς, rhododáktulos Ēṓs) is a famous Homeric epithet—a descriptive formulaic phrase—used repeatedly by Homer in the Iliad and the Odyssey to personify Eos, the Greek goddess of the dawn.

This morning at Fruitlands was indeed mythic. Most of the fall leaves have left the branches, but up here in the mountain there is always beauty even in stick season.
